Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she won the Emmy Award. Her most well-known role is her performance in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney is the daughter of an executive from the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. She dreamed of becoming a court reporter in her early years, but began modeling in high school and eventually gaining commercials following her move from New York. In her teens her first appearance as an actor was on the 1980 soap opera All My Children. Her career as an actor has been awash with a variety of television shows and dramas. The professional life she has had is much more lucrative than her personal life. The skilled actor been battling alcoholism as well as two divorces. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
