She is a rancher close to Oklahoma. The Pioneer Woman writes on her blog about her daily life as a ranch wife and mother. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, the Pioneer Woman was awarded the Weblog of the Year award at the Annual Weblog Awards. She was born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. While in college, she majored in the field of journalism and gerontology. In 2006 she started her online blog pioneerwoman.typepad.com and later changed the name to Confessions of a Pioneer Woman and finally to The Pioneer Woman. Confessions is still one of many popular sections of the website. It has been hailed as a hit by a variety of publications for its writing, ideas, and high quality photos. She posts food photos in her blogs. Her own television show, The Pioneer Woman, which airs still on The Food Network today was first launched in 2011. She also writes and most books are chock full of recipes for cooking. Columbia Pictures is turning her book Black Heels & Tractor Wheels into a feature film.
