Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), situated in Washington DC. Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president between 1981 and 1988. She covered a wide range of noteworthy stories including arms control the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also was frequently along with President Reagan to summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
