Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 21st, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP under the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she first gained notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the web, including her own released single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to use it together with Rihanna. She was officially signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed as part of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening act. In 2018, she appeared on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video to accompany it was also released on September 5th. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 13, she released two more singles called No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared with Cole on The Creed II sound track on November 16. The song was followed by a music video on February 20 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views on YouTube within the first week. In December 2018 she performed on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
